Conclave on Securing Justice and Protection for Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitationdr

This November, the Maharashtra State Commission of Women (MSCW) will partner with IJM India to host the Conclave on ‘Securing Justice and Protection for Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation.’ The Conclave aims to brings together deliverers of justice in Maharashtra to focus on the sensitivity and prudence required in the systems to ensure that justice is served in its rightful form to victims.
Despite significant improvements in recent years, statistics show that commercial sexual exploitation remains a major problem requiring attention. The 2017 National Crime Records Bureau Report data from Maharashtra reveals that 71% of the human trafficking cases reported involve commercial sexual exploitation.
At the Conclave the primary areas of discussion will be addressed through panel discussions and plenary speeches by experts from the field. The topics to be explored are:
1.Institutionalizing of Procedural and Infrastructural Victim-Friendly Measures
2.Fostering Co-ordinated Government Response to Commercial Sexual Exploitation in the in the State of Maharashtra
3.Access to Justice for Victims Who Are in Poverty or Vulnerable
4.Addressing Issues in Adjudication of Cases of Commercial Sexual Exploitation
